News SGA calls for ballot review After election and Spring Break,
Rosen will push for investigation
by JEB SCHNEIDER
Few problems were reported in the Student Government Association general election Thursday. The voting period ends at 2 p.m. today. Election Commissioner Stanley Call said three phone calls were received by noon notifying the Election Commission that students were still unable to cast ballots. At least one of the students was able to vote later in the day. However, the Commission was unable to confirm whether the other students were able to cast their votes. College of Liberal Arts and Social Science Seat 6 candidate Brady Alland announced plans to file at least one complaint regarding how the election was conducted but said he would wait until after the election to file the complaint. Alland said he compiled a list of 10 supporters who claim they were still unable to cast ballots Thursday. "I have heard of more and will continue to collect the names so that it can be followed up after the election and Spring Break," Alland said. Cougar 1Card office and Learning Support Services officials were unavailable Thursday to comment on the voting problem. Final general election results will be posted by 5 p.m. Friday and a recount, if necessary, will be complete by 8 p.m. Friday, Call said. CLASS Senator David Rosen called for outgoing SGA President David Williams to head a task force to be charged with investigating the inability of students to cast ballots. The task force would also investigate any violations of the election code alleged to have occurred during the campaign. "It's important that we show the entire student body
that far from a lack of integrity, this body demonstrates an overabundance
of integrity," Rosen said.
