News Campus Crime Report The following is a partial report of campus crime between March 10 and Tuesday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event's location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600. Criminal mischief: 2:52 a.m., March 10, Cullen Oaks Apartments -- A suspect intentionally damaged an interior apartment door after a verbal argument with a fraternity brother. The suspect was issued a Harris County criminal citation for criminal mischief and Student Life and Residential referrals. Occurred at 2:30 a.m. March 10. Criminal mischief: 10:40 a.m., March 11, Lot 12A -- UH Department of Public Safety police officers were conducting a check of UH Lot 12A and discovered three secure and unattended vehicles had white powder and cookies on them. No major damage appeared to have been caused in the incident. There are no witnesses or suspects. Occurred between 1 p.m. March 7 and 10:40 a.m. March 11. Aggravated robbery: 1:12 a.m., March 12, Cullen Boulevard and Entrance 13 -- Visitor reported he was robbed at gunpoint in UH Parking Lot 13A. Occurred at 1:12 a.m. March 12. Fire/Explosion: 6:40 p.m., March 13, Engineering Complex -- A microwave oven located inside the Engineering 2 building vending machine area was smoking and no smoke alarm was activated. The microwave oven was disconnected and an out of order sign was posted. The contact person for the oven advised they would send out a repairperson to fix the problem on the next business day. Occurred between 6:40 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. March 13. Fail to comply with requirements on striking an unattended vehicle: 5:30 p.m., Monday, Entrance 14 -- The complainant reported her unattended vehicle was damaged by a UH shuttle bus on UH Entrance 14 according to a witness who saw the incident happen. Investigation is ongoing. Occurred at 2 p.m. Monday. Possession of drug paraphernalia: 5:30 p.m., Monday, Bayou Oaks Apartments -- A student was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and issued a Harris County citation. The student and three others were also issued Student and Residential Life Referrals. Occurred at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Theft: 12:54 p.m., Tuesday, University Center Barnes and Noble Bookstore -- The campus bookstore operations manager reported one juvenile visitor and one adult visitor shoplifting items from the bookstore located in the University Center. The visitors' handbags were checked and items from the bookstore were found in their possession. The adult was issued a Class C Harris County Citation for theft and released. The juvenile visitor was arrested and charged with Class B theft and released to a guardian. Occurred between 12:49 p.m. and 12:52 p.m. Tuesday. Theft: University Center Barnes and Noble Bookstore -- A visitor reported a Barnes and Noble Bookstore cashier was being questioned in the bookstore office by a Barnes and Noble Loss Prevention member regarding suspicious cash register transactions. The cashier ran out of the bookstore. Investigation is ongoing. Occurred between 1:39 p.m. March 13 and 12:04 p.m. Tuesday. Burglary of a building: 12:37 p.m. Wednesday, Moores School of Music Room 141 -- A faculty member reported the theft of her UH-issued DVD camcorder from her office. Investigation is ongoing.
