Hunter. S. Thompson. Cameron Crowe. Insert your name here.

If you think you have what it takes to follow in the steps of these former Rolling Stone Magazine writers, then you may want to apply for a contest being held by Rolling Stone and MTV. Rolling Stone has dropped the net, hoping to catch a group of talented writers to work in its New York offices. The writers' experience will also be filmed for an MTV series exploring the world of journalism.

Applicants must be 18-24 years of age, and the application, writing samples and a short video must be received by April 7.

The writers chosen for the positions will work in the Rolling Stone offices from June to August, which is when the MTV reality series will be filmed.

At the end of the summer, one writer from the cast will receive a one-year contract to be a contributing writer for the magazine.

The contest hopes to draw writers specializing in various fields, including music, film, sports, fashion and politics. It also encourages bloggers, working journalists and stars of their school papers to sign up.

For more information on the contest, including rules and regulations, visit the Web sites www.rollingstone.com or www.mtv.com or call (310) 752-8740.
