Campus Crime Report

The following is a partial report of campus crime between April 7 and Wednesday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event's location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Theft: 11:11 a.m., April 7, University Center 565 -- Two juveniles were reported to be shoplifting. As the juveniles exited the store, the alarm was activated and the juveniles ran off. The investigation is ongoing. Occurred at 11:11 a.m. on April 7. 

Theft: 3:20 p.m., April 8, Architecture Building 543 -- A faculty member reported that unknown person(s) removed a student's items from two studio areas to another location. No suspect(s). Occurred between 6 and 11 a.m. April 8. 

Theft: 4:39 p.m., April 10, M.D. Anderson Memorial Library 509 -- A student reported an unknown person(s) stole her unattended and unsecured purse and contents from an exterior seating area. No suspect(s). Occurred between 4:05 and 4:20 p.m. April 10. 

Criminal Mischief and Resist Arrest/Search/Transportation: 4:17 p.m., April 10, Campus Recreation and Wellness Center 522 -- A visitor was arrested after he was reported as trying to enter the Wellness Center using a student's ID card and struggling with the detaining officer. The visitor was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and transported to the Harris County Jail. The student was issued a Student Life Referral in the incident for giving the visitor his ID card. Occurred at 4:17 p.m. April 10. 

Theft: 4:05 p.m., April 10, Science and Research Room 108 -- A visitor reported unknown person(s) stole his unsecured and unattended laptop computer. Occurred from 4 to 5:30 p.m. April 10. 

Criminal Trespass: 11:29 p.m., April 10, Bayou Oaks Apartments -- A visitor was arrested. The visitor was transported and released to the Harris County Jail. Occurred between 11:32 and 11:33 p.m. April 10. 

Theft: 1:55 p.m., April 10, Lot 15D -- A student reported unknown person(s) took parts of his unattended vehicle. Occurred between 11:50 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. April 10. 

Assault: 10:47 a.m., Tuesday, Campus Recreation and Wellness Center -- A student reported a known individual touched her in an improper manner several times while swimming. The student does not want to press charges at this time. Occurred at 10:47 a.m. Tuesday. 

Credit/Debit Card Abuse: 4:36 p.m. Tuesday, University of Houston Police Department -- A student reported that an unknown individual(s) made unauthorized charges at several locations using her debit card account number. No suspects. Occurred between 8 a.m. March 8 and 4 p.m. Tuesday. 

Assault: 10:19 p.m., Tuesday, Entrance 6 Basketball Courts -- A visitor reported three unknown suspects assaulted him during a basketball game. No suspects or leads at this time. The investigation is ongoing. Occurred between 10 and 10:18 p.m. Tuesday. 

Theft: 10:56 a.m., Tuesday, McElhinney Hall 588 -- A staff member reported unknown person(s) entered a UH Cushman and stole a battery charger. No suspects. Occurred between 5 p.m. April 7 and 9 a.m. April 10. 

Burglary Coin Operated/Collection Machine: 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Cambridge Oaks Apartments Laundry Room -- A visitor reported unknown person(s) burglarized the ESD machine his company owns and stole U.S. coins. No suspects. Occurred between 9:30 a.m. March 28 and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. 

Burglary Coin Operated/Collection Machine: 9:15 a.m., Wednesday, Cullen Oaks Apartments 569 -- A visitor reported unknown person(s) burglarized the ESD machine his company owns and stole U.S. coins. No suspects. Occurred between 9 a.m. March 28 and 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
