Freshman diver Tania Cagnotto was announced as the Conference USA diver of the year.

Cagnotto was a unanimous choice by six of C-USA's head coaches. She joins former Cougar Yulia Pakhalina as the only diver to ever sweep all three diving events at the C-USA Championship. Cagnotto finished the 1-meter diving with 344.65 points and the 3-meter diving with 375.85 points. She also finished the platform diving in the conference championships with 331.80 points and blew by her nearest competitor, junior Anna Kiess, by nearly 60 points.

Cagnotto also went on to capture the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard championships when she competed at the NCAA Zone D meet. She also took All-American honors in each of those events as well as the platform at the 2006 NCAA Championships. Cagnotto scored with 338.45 points to take an eighth place finish. Cagnotto also placed 11th on the 1-meter springboard with 286.95 points.

During the 2006 season, Cagnotto took home seven C-USA Diver of the Week honors, setting a Cougar single season record.
