Sports Weston goes in 12th round of MLB draft Cougar Sports Service The San Francisco Giants took former Houston outfielder
Matt Weston in Tuesday's MLB draft in the 12th round. The former Cougar
slugger started off slow in the first half of the season, batting at just
under .200, but his stock rose after April when his bat really started
to heat up.

By the end of the season Weston had compiled 51 RBIs, good enough for second best on the team, while blasting a team-high 16 home runs. Infielder Isa Garcia and catcher Brett Logan got
taken in the second day of the draft. The Washington Nationals took Garcia,
who batted at .357. The St. Louis Cardinals took Logan, who batted .284,
in the 26th round. He had nine RBIs and four stolen bases for Houston in
the 2006 season.
