The former Cougar slugger started off slow in the first half of the season, batting at just under .200, but his stock rose after April when his bat really started to heat up. Matt Weston was drafted in the 12th round of the MLB draft. Weston held the Houston team high this season with 16 homeruns. Daily Cougar file photo By the end of the season Weston had compiled 51 RBIs, good enough for second best on the team, while blasting a team-high 16 home runs. Infielder Isa Garcia and catcher Brett Logan got taken in the second day of the draft. The Washington Nationals took Garcia, who batted at .357. The St. Louis Cardinals took Logan, who batted .284, in the 26th round.
