Warehouse Live hosts RX Bandits' new sound

New venue announced for Tuesday's concert with The Walkmen

The idea of a third-wave ska band still trying to make it in the music world is a little disheartening, especially when that band came late in a game that was, for the most part, over. But the RX Bandits have proven that ska can progress into rock, and through the past few years they've gone on to reinvent themselves. Now they take the stage with the same energy and a more modern sound.

RX Bandits will perform at Warehouse Live's Studio, 813 St. Emanuel St., at 8 p.m. tonight with The Exit, Men, Women and Children, and Desa. For more information, call (713) 629-3700.

Cracker will bring its rock to Meridian, 1503 Chartres St., at 7 p.m. today with The Elms and locals Three Fantastic. Call (713) 225-1717 for tickets or show up at the door.

Hatetank Productions presents The Bitter End and Pale Horse tonight at Walter's on Washington, 4215 Washington Ave., at 8 p.m. today. Tickets are $8 --if you don't believe me, call (713) 862-2513 and see for yourself.

Most people are tired of all the Ashlee Simpson lip-synching jokes, so I won't make any -- really, I think the biggest tragedy of Simpson's career is that she actually has one. But if you like bubble-gum pop rock and lip-synching, check her out Friday at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Colgate toothpaste rockers The Veronicas will open and are rumored to have free samples to throw into the crowd.

Panic at the Disco's Friday show at Warehouse Live's Ballroom is sold out, so dudes with too much eyeliner will most likely have to scalp tickets off dudes wearing eyeliner.

Bob Schneider will bring his singer/songwriter talents to Warehouse Live on Saturday, but don't ask him about Sandra Bullock -- they broke up and he's over it. Tickets are still on sale.

Austin's all-girl punk rockers The Applicators will open for the Krum Bums at Walter's on Washington on Saturday, so get there early.

It's sad that Panic at the Disco managed to sell out a venue that Echo and the Bunnymen will play two days later and haven't sold out. Kids today have no clue. For those in the know, the Bunnymen will take the stage at Warehouse Live's Ballroom and will no doubt put on a show that will blow the girl pants off most Panic at the Disco fans.

Oh, and if you were planning on seeing The Walkmen at Numbers, detour to Walter's on Washington instead -- that's where the show has been moved. Tickets are $12 and doors are at 8 p.m.
