OPINION
EU takes lead for
science's sake
Earlier this week, the European Union
decided to pick up the research-funding slack that the United States undoubtedly
will leave after the House of Representatives failed to overturn President
Bush's first veto on a stem cell research bill.
Outdated law gets needed repeal
Finally, couples in North Carolina
who choose to live out of wedlock will no longer live as criminals. A state
judge ruled July 20 the 1805 law barring unmarried couples from playing
house unconstitutional.
