News Campus Crime Report The following is a partial report of campus crime between Thursday and Monday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event's location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600. Warrant: 8:29 p.m., July 27, Entrance 1 -- A visitor was arrested on outstanding traffic warrants out of Harris County Precinct 7 after he was stopped for a defective headlight. The visitor was released to the custody of a Precinct 7 deputy. Occurred at 7:35 p.m. Thursday. Burglary of a Building or Habitation: 7:04 a.m, July 27, Oberholtzer Residence Hall -- A visitor reported that the security gate at the OB convenience store was forced open and several boxes of candy were stolen by unknown person(s). Investigation ongoing. Occurred from 8 p.m. Thursday to 5:30 a.m. Friday. Burglary of a Motor Vehicle/Evading Arrest: 7:00 p.m. July 28, Lot 20A -- Two juveniles were arrested and transported to Harris County Juvenile for evading arrest after attempting to steal a motor vehicle. Occurred at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Credit/Debit Card Abuse: 7:16 p.m., July 30, Oberholtzer Residence Hall -- A UH visitor attempted to use a stolen Cougar 1Card to purchase items at the OB convenience store. The subject was located and the card was returned to the owner. The visitor was then determined to have an outstanding traffic warrant. The visitor was arrested and transported to the Harris County Jail. Occurred from 7:16 to 9:11 p.m. Sunday. Graffiti: 9:30 a.m., July 31, Lot 16E -- A staff member observed graffiti on metal parking sign in UH Lot 16B. There are no suspect(s) at this time. Occurred at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Purse Snatching: 3:49 p.m., Monday, Lot 13A - Outside Heyne Building -- Unknown black male suspect took a student's purse while it was in her possession. Suspect fled scene and evaded responding units. Occurred at 3:49 p.m. Monday. Harassment: 5:39 p.m., Monday, Cullen Oaks Apartments -- A student reported that she had been receiving harassing letters left on her vehicle by her ex-boyfriend. The student reported she wanted to file a police report. Occurred between 3 p.m. on Saturday and 5:39 p.m. Monday. Assault: 7:10 p.m., Monday, Campus Recreation and Wellness Center -- A student reported that three possible UH football team members assaulted him while they were playing basketball at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.
