The Sporting News magazine announced on Thursday the names of three UH football players who were named Honorable Mention, Freshman All-America. Free safety Kenneth Fontenette, inside linebacker Cody Lubojasky and defensive end Cody Pree received the accolades for their efforts during the 2005 season.

Fontenette finished fifth on the team with 68 tackles after being added to the starting lineup only a month after the season opener. During the game against Conference USA West Division champion Tulsa, Fontenette helped seal a 30-23 victory after stripping All-American tight end Garret Mills and recovering the fumble.

Because of Lance Everson's injury, Lubojasky started all 11 games this season. He finished 2005 with 71 tackles, six of which were for losses, and one sack.

When Pree walked off the field after the last game of the regular season against Rice on Saturday, he was tied for the team lead in sacks with four. In 11 games worth of play, he recorded one pass breakup, one fumble recovery and 37 tackles, including 17 solo and five for losses.

The Cougars' 6-5 winning record for the 2005 season marked the first time UH has registered two winning seasons in three years since 1988-90. The Cougars finished with a 4-4 record in C-USA.
