Sports Lady Cougars back on home court Women's basketball participates in double header on Saturday Cougar Sports Staff The UH women's basketball team is hoping to improve its 2-4 record when it faces West Virginia on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Hofheinz Pavilion. The Lady Cougars game will be followed by the men's basketball game against the Sam Houston Bearkats at 8 p.m. The West Virginia Mountaineers (3-2) come to Houston after a 70-75 loss against North Carolina Greensboro (2-3). With 1:40 left in the game, junior guard Meg Bulger tied the game at 68. Bulger led the Mountaineers with 23 points in 33 minutes worth of play.
Senior Emily Fryters led the Lady Cougars with a 7.5 rebound average, while posting 27 points and four blocks so far this season. The UH women's and men's teams will play Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively, at Hofheinz Pavilion. Gregory Bohuslav/The Daily Cougar Sophomore teammates forward Chakhia Cole and center Olayinka Sanni followed with 17 points. Cole also led West Virginia with nine rebounds, followed by Bulger with seven. The Mountaineers committed 24 total turnovers by the end of their battle. Texas Pan-American in the consolation game of the Kansas State Commerce
Bank Wildcat Classic in Bramlage Coliseum on Saturday. Freshman guard Jasmin
Moore led UH with a career-high of 24 points, followed by freshman guard/forward
Sha'Ratta Hawkins with 15 points and sophomore guard/forward Ryan Meyers,
who added 12 points. Senior Emily Fryters registered a total of 12 rebounds
in 38 minutes worth of play. Hawkins also registered eight rebounds in
39 minutes worth of play, while Meyers posted six in 29 minutes on the
court.
