Life & Arts Boudreaux's an escape from fast food Cajun kitchen offers fine service and a tasty selection by CONNIE CITIZEN
With fast food restaurants on every corner -- and sometimes even two or three on the same corner -- where should we go for satisfying food when we don't want to rush? If you just want to enjoy a well-prepared dinner with pleasant company in a relaxing yet upbeat environment, check out the well-known chain of restaurants known as Boudreaux's Cajun Kitchen. The closest location to UH is located off Interstate 45 on Woodridge Drive. That may be a good thing considering there's not much of a selection when it comes to good food around campus.
Boudreaux's Cajun Kitchen, 100 Gulfgate Mall, offers good service, even better food and a clean restroom. The chain, which caters and takes orders ahead of time, also has locations near the Galleria, Willowbrook in north Houston and off Fuqua in South Houston. After only dining there a few times, customers will recognize that Boudreaux's is a commendable establishment because it leaves a lasting impression, and not many places do that. Hungry visitors come for a place of comfort and relaxation after a long day's work. Sensing the relaxing environment and hearing the low hum of people's conversations coming from the booths and tables from around the restaurant, Boudreaux's definitely takes a step out of the trend of what's become a stale fast food world. Patrons won't tire of the restaurant's good food and excellent service even after several visits. The "down-home cooking" featured on the Southern-style menu is served hot, fresh and in a reasonable time, considering the size of the crowds the restaurant attracts. The cleanliness of Boudreaux's is also commendable. The employees are courteous, helpful, clean and well groomed, and customers will notice the difference. The self-serve condiment stand is well stocked and easily accessible. One of the best ways to judge a restaurant is based on how clean the restrooms are; if details like cleaning the bathroom are ignored, one could only imagine the things behind the counter and in the kitchen that aren't being tended to. But the restrooms at Boudreaux's are exceptionally clean and properly stocked. Boudreaux's sets its standards on delivering nothing less than the best in quality food and superb service.
