Walk-on tryouts near

Compliance meeting to be held on Wednesday

COUGAR SPORTS SERVICES

The Houston football team will host a compliance meeting at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Athletic/Alumni Center. This meeting is mandatory for all students with aspirations of joining the Cougars as a walk-on.

Houston finished last season with a crushing defeat by Kansas in the Fort Worth bowl and will attempt to earn an invitation to another bowl game in 2006.

Head coach Art Briles said he had a decent recruiting class but would like to get a little more depth at certain positions if there is anyone who fits the Cougars style of play.

All students planning to attend this meeting or join the team as a walk-on must currently be enrolled at UH. They must also be scheduled for at least 12 hours and be in good academic standing.

Tryouts will be held on Feb. 15. For more information, contact Joe Alcoser at (713) 743-9389 or by e-mail, jalcoser@uh.edu.

The Cougars will lose five players at skill positions due to either graduation or the NFL draft and will lose 12 players on the defensive end of the ball. Walk-ons could be used to fill any spots on the roster not taken by returning and scholarship athletes.
