Life & Arts Grammy loves U2, Kanye Cougar Life & Arts Staff Irish rock band U2 dominated the 48th Annual Grammy Awards, winning five awards. Donning shades and a cowboy hat, U2 lead singer Bono rambled every time his band won an award. Meanwhile, Mariah Carey sat back and watched all the Grammy glory go to the likes of U2 and college-dropout-turned-Grammy-winner Kanye West. U2 won the top awards, including album of the year (How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb) and song of the year ("Sometimes You Can't make it on Your Own"). Carey won three awards, which were not televised. Too bad viewers didn't get to hear Carey try and string a few senteces together. West earned three Grammys, including one for best rap album (Late Registration). As for the performances Wednesday night, an elegant
Christina Aguilera topped them all, performing "A Song For You" with Herbie
Hancock.
