Hall of Fame gets new music inductees

Music notes

Eli Jabbe

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the ultimate confirmation of a music artist's impact. Even though having this prestige doesn't mean the artist is great, it certainly doesn't hurt. The March 12 event will feature high-profile musicians inducting the latest members. Jay-Z will induct Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, whose song, "The Message," was sampled various times, such as in Puffy's infamous reworking of it for his collaboration with Mase "Can't Nobody Hold Me Down."

In the rock world, Pearl Jam's Eddie Veder will be inducting R.E.M., which had hits such as "Man On The Moon." Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones will also be inducting The Ronettes. This year will be the first where the ceremony will be televised live on VH1.

In tour news, Robin Thicke, who had one of 2006's highly acclaimed albums with The Evolution of Robin Thicke, is already halfway done with a new album. Though the album has been out for a while, it didn't start to buzz until recently. Thicke described the late start for the album to www.Billboard.com as: "I'm having a comeback, but I was never there. I'm on my second album, but I still feel like a brand new artist. It's an overnight success, you know? It's like a comeback for somebody who just arrived."

Thicke will be touring this year and working on the new album, which, if his most recent album is any indication, looks to be a great listen.

In addition, The Clipse are also working on new material and going on the road. The duo is going to release new material in the next few months and is currently on tour that started in late February.

And as always, Tuesday is the biggest day of the week in the music world: release day. Tomorrow features Consequence finally releasing his much-anticipated album Don't Quit Your Day Job.

This is an opportune time for Consequence to prove that he can make a quality album on his own. This week also features a few other notable releases, but it is the end of the month that most people are looking forward to.
