Vote in elections to make a difference It's election time again. Students running for contested seats in the Student Government Association are now biting their nails and waiting for the results. Today is the last day to vote, and more students need to participate and take part in our student government. Head out to the polls, so to speak, and let your voices be heard. Take the time to research the candidates and find out what they think about campus-related issues that you care most about. Make an informed decision about who you want leading your University. Although many of the races are uncontested, students should still take the time to find out who's responsible for making important decisions that can affect all UH students. Students should also research what SGA does and find out about legislation it's enacted and is currently considering. If you disagree with SGA's actions, let your senators know. Better yet, get involved by applying for candidacy during the next elections. SGA represents UH students and can continue to function at its best only if it knows what students want most. If you're tired of tuition increases or are having trouble with textbooks, let SGA know. Members want to hear your opinions so they serve you to the best of their abilities. As with any organization, the SGA needs feedback to know what it's doing right and what needs improvement. Voting in SGA elections gets students involved in the UH community. The more involved a student is with his or her university, the more pride he or she takes in said institution. And a little school spirit goes a long way in improving any university's image.
