Report wants more water and less turkey UH divers: A Junior diver Ginni van Katwijk and sophomore diver Anastasia Pozdniakova advanced to the NCAA Championships, which started yesterday in Minneapolis. Pozdniakova finished fifth in the 1-meter springboard and is set to compete in the 3-meter springboard today. Van Katwijk will compete Sunday in platform diving. This is the fifth consecutive year UH has sent contestants to the NCAA. The diving team, and its athletes, seldom receives the attention merited. Diving coach Jane Figueiredo has coached 23 UH students to the NCAA in her 17 seasons. The UH diving team helps set the bar for Conference USA, and the nation as a whole. Turkey: F A Turkish court on Wednesday ordered that popular user-made video sharing Web site YouTube, the Associated Press reported. This is a troubling development. The reason for the prohibition — alleged insults to Turkey's founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk — is weak. Although many Turks revere Ataturk as a national hero, insults — real or perceived — are not grounds for censorship. YouTube offers users and viewers an amazing opportunity — relatively unfettered access to homemade videos from around the world. To restrict an entire nation from such a wealth of information is unreasonable. The policy contravenes the forward-thinking policies that Turkey has become known for in the often times tumultuous Middle East.
