Sports Guy V. Lewis will finally be inducted Former UH basketball coach gets in College Basketball Hall of Fame Cougar Sports Services The National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation announced Monday that former UH head basketball coach Guy V. Lewis will be inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame on Nov. 18 in Kansas City, Mo. Established on Nov. 17, 2006, the College Basketball Hall of Fame is a new memorial organization formed to honor those who were integral in shaping the history of college basketball. This includes players, coaches and other contributors. Lewis will enter the Hall of Fame as a member of the second class of inductees. As Houston's head coach, Lewis amassed a total of 592 wins and also led the Cougars to 27 consecutive winning seasons. He also did the heavy recruiting needed to build Houston into a national basketball powerhouse in his era. With the services of Elvin Hayes, Don Chaney, Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler at his disposal, Lewis led the Cougars to 14 NCAA Tournament appearances. Though he never won a national championship, he coached four Final Four teams, two of which made it to the championship game. Lewis has still yet to be inducted into the Naismith
Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
