Sports Cougars make their third trip of season to Baton Rouge Two meets left until C-USA Championships by JONG LEE
With only a pair of meets remaining before the Conference USA Championships, the Cougars will head to Baton Rouge, La., for the third time this season to compete in the LSU Alumni Gold Track and Field Invitational. The one-day event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bernie Moore Stadium. The Cougars are coming off of a pair of victories at the John Jacobs Invitational last weekend in Norman, Okla. Senior Ebonie Floyd won the 400-meters with a NCAA Regional qualifying time of 53.69 seconds. She also qualified in the 200-meters and as part of the 4x400 relay team. Junior Kolee Latson finished fourth in the men's 400-meter run, finishing with a time of 47.39 seconds. Freshman Brittani Williams took second place in the javelin, throwing for a distance of 41.88m/137-05. Sophomore Morgan Floyd finished third in the men's javelin with a throw of 55.41m/181-09. In the men's discus, junior James Lee took fourth place with a throw of 53.93m/176-11. Last season, Houston claimed three wins at the LSU Alumni Gold, and Floyd set a school record in the women's 400-meter run with a time of 51.66 seconds. After the LSU Alumni Gold, the Cougars will next travel to Berkeley, Calif., to compete in the California Relays on Apr. 27-28. dcsports@mail.uh.edu
