Cougars take the Gold, run with it 

Floyd claims first place in the women's 100-meter race 
while Diggs wins the men's high jump event

COUGAR SPORTS SERVICES

In their third trip to Baton Rouge this season, the Houston track and field team collected two wins at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational Saturday on the LSU campus.

Senior Ebonie Floyd finished the 100-meter race with a time of 11.40 seconds and met the NCAA regional qualifying time. Floyd's finish was the fifth fastest time in Cougar history. 

Junior Ivan Diggs earned the Cougars' other victory after clearing 2.06m/6-0.9.00 in the high jump. Senior Tristian Whitley came in fourth place.

Freshman Quin'shundolyn McPherson finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.74m/41-09.75 to qualify for the NCAA regionals.

Houston qualified two relay teams for the NCAA Regional. The women's 4x100 finished fourth with a time of 45.33 seconds, and the men's 4x400 also finished fourth with a time of 4 minutes, 9.79 seconds.

Junior Kolee Latson was part of the men's 4x400-meter relay, and Latson also qualified for regionals with a seventh place finish in the 400-meters with a time of 47.04 seconds. 

Freshman LeeA'ndrea Robinson took a 10th place finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.04 seconds, and freshman LaMarcus Hunter finished 13th on the men's side.

Junior Adriane Guinn finished with a time of 4 minutes, 37.13 seconds to take second in the women's 1,500-meter run. Junior Oumama Hallal finished fourth with a time of 4 minutes, 40.69 seconds, and sophomore Jennifer Harper took seventh after coming in at 4 minutes, 44.57 seconds. Harper also finished 10th in the 800-meter run, and junior Eva Madrid took 10th in the 5,000-meter run, clocking in at 20 minutes, 22.93 seconds.

Freshman Ahmed Harb came in 12th in the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 3 minutes, 45.89 seconds. Freshman Daniel Martinez came in 13th with a time of 3 minutes, 59.54 seconds and senior Paul Goodwin finished 19th.

In the field events, freshman Brandon Hubbard finished 13th with a hammer throw of 40.31m/132-03.

Freshman Ashley Bryant took third in the discus throw, and finished 13th on the hammer throw. Freshman Dayo Ogunniyi was ninth in the long jump, and senior Rachel Easley took seventh in the high jump. Junior Ashley Ligon took 13th in the pole vault competition.

Senior Lucas Mireles threw the shot put 15.95m/52-04.00 to finish ninth. Sophomores Jeremy Kelley and Grant Hightower put up 10th-place finishes in the triple jump and long jump, respectively. Sophomore Andy Tackett took an eighth place finish with a distance of 56.95m/186-10 in the javelin throw.
