Reach out to fellow students A student at Cullen Oaks was found dead in his apartment Tuesday morning, and while that is shocking enough, no one knew the student was dead for days -- not his friends, family, no one. While some residents reported a foul smell emanating from the floor where Seungjune Lee's body was found, they thought it might be a waste disposal problem. Daily Cougar reporters spoke with residents living nearby the student who said they knew little about him. This sad incident teaches us that we need to reach out to our fellow Cougars. Imagine how lonely Lee, who went by Andrew, must have been if no one realized for days that he was missing. We need to get to know our neighbors. Even if it's a simple "hello" or "How are you?" it can make all the difference in the world. UH is a community. We have one of the most diverse campuses in the country, and we can learn so much from each other if we just communicate. Imagine if we got to know one another -- the stories that we would hear, the things we could learn about other parts of the world. And who would be against making another friend? While we are a commuter campus with many students coming for classes and leaving at the end of the day, we should still try to get to know each other. A more unified campus would compel more people to stick around and get involved. We need more Cougar pride to continue to make this University the best it can be. We can't accomplish anything if we don't work together, and we can't work together if we don't know each other.
