Sports Cougars follow Floyd's lead at weekend challenge Senior sprinter claims victory in two races; Sophomore Robinson makes regional qualifying time in hurdles COUGAR SPORTS SERVICES UH senior Ebonie Floyd flashed past the competition to win the 200-meter and 400-meter races during the second day of competition at the California Collegiate Challenge on Saturday. Floyd claimed the 200 with a time of 22.79 seconds and the 400 in 51.36. Sophomore Lee'Andrea Robinson posted an NCAA Regional qualifying time when she finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.72. Another regional qualifying time came from the women's 4x100 team, which took fourth place with a time of 45.05. The women's 4x400 team claimed fifth with a time of 3 minutes, 52.11 seconds. In the 800-meter race, junior Adriane Guinn earned a sixth place finish with a time of 2:11.14. In the 1,500 meters, junior Oumama Hallal finished eighth with a time of 4:44.86. With a time of 12.04, freshman Dayo Ogunniyi recorded a 13th place finish in the 100-meter finals. In the field events, freshman Brittani Williams took seventh place in the javelin and senior Kelli Williams finished 15th in the triple jump. For the men's races, freshmen Daniel Martinez and Ahmed Harb finished behind one another with Martinez in third (3:58.85) and Harb in fourth (3:59.28) in the 1,500 meters. The 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams took second place in their races and freshman Justin Davis added a seventh place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 48.53. In the 200-meter race, junior Kolee Latson was 10th with a time of 21.64. Freshman Steven Jones earned 14th place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.81. In the men's triple jump, sophomore Jeremy Kelley took sixth place with a leap of 14.04m/46-00.75. In the field events, senior Morgan Floyd was fifth
in the javelin with sophomore Andy Tackett coming in sixth and freshman
Brandon Hubbard in ninth. In the shot put, Hubbard also took 12th behind
teammate senior Lucas Mireles, who finished eighth.
