News UH awaits Homecoming Yearly celebration to include social,
Halloween-themed party,

Anticipation for this year's Homecoming begins at 11:30 a.m. today with the Homecoming Kick-Off. After months of planning, the Homecoming Committee is excited to have their work surface throughout the coming week. "It will be a preview of what students should expect for the rest of the week," UH Gamma Sigma President Jennifer Blome, said. The Homecoming kick-off will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the University Center Arbor. There will be free giveaways and t-shirts, as well as an announcement the Homecoming court. This year's Homecoming rolled in with much enthusiasm and has everyone involved, including alumni, faculty and students, and has been predicted by the Committee to be the best Homecoming UH has seen in years. "We want to make sure students are aware of what is going on the whole week" said Blome. This week's events include Homecoming Style Show, a Halloween SPIRIT Celebration at the UC Arbor in concurrence with UC "Halloween Spooktacular," which includes a costume contest, fortune telling and trick-or-treating on Tuesday. The creative writing department and M.D. Anderson Library will host Poetry & Prose Wednesday, where refreshments will be served. Residence Halls Association will have its Beauty Bowl and Block Party where students can watch female tag football, play games and enjoy food. Events also include the Strut Your Stuff Cougar Showcase Thursday night at Hofheinz Pavilion and a Campus Recreation Homecoming Carnival and Golden Cougar Ice Cream Social Friday. All events will culminate in the UH vs. Tulsa Homecoming
football game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
