Parking Web site gets boost

Remodeled site to provide easier access to important info

The UH Parking and Transportation Services Web site recently received a face-lift and a new address to make access to important information and services easier.

"We just really want it to make it easier for the customers to have access to the Web site," Vanessa Turner, assistant director of PTS, said.

The Web site provides information on how to pay for a parking citation and PDF files of parking rates, game-day parking instructions and a form to file a parking citation appeal.

The Web site also includes information on motorist assistance and numbers to call for assistance in unlocking a vehicle, changing a flat tire or jump starting a vehicle and a link to Enrollment Services Online where students can register for parking permits.

One relatively new feature is the e-parking service where students can pay fines or obtain documents to file a petition for parking citations.

Turner said the site logs 40 to 50 citation payments a day from students and faculty.

"The e-parking services has been online for a year. It went online in December of last year I think, and it's been well received," Turner said.

The system was down for part of this semester.

"It was down for about two months this semester because we upgraded our parking management system. In the process, we had to do some hunting programming to covert that over to our new parking system, but it's going well," Turner said.

The information on the Web site is also available in hardcopy form.

Rules, regulation and visitor information is also available from the visitor information booths at Entrance 1 near the University Center and parking Lot 15G near the Athletic/Alumni Center.

The Web site is located at www.uh.edu/parking, and more information can be obtained by calling (713) 743-1097.
