Sports Aldridge and Hunt get weekly honors Cougar Sports Services Junior running back Anthony Alridge and sophomore defensive end Phillip Hunt both had a huge hand in leading Houston to a 37-27 victory over Southern Methodist on Saturday. On Monday, they were properly rewarded. Alridge was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week and Hunt picked up C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honors. Alridge carried the ball 13 times for a career-high 225 yards that included two 77-yard touchdown runs. The second touchdown run came late in the third quarter to tie the game at 24, giving the Cougars the momentum they needed to finish the game on a 13-3 scoring run. Hunt tallied nine tackles, three sacks and a forced
fumble to help the Houston defense hold SMU to only three points in the
second half and limited the Mustangs to 44 total rushing yards. The totals
were career-highs for Hunt.
