The Cougars returned to action for the first time since Nov. 4 to compete at the Art Adamson Invitational, placing in multiple categories.

Senior Rachel Gitelson finished third on the platform Sunday, scoring 235.10 points. Gitelson also finished ninth on the 3-meter springboard and took seventh on the 1-meter. Gitelson was the only member of the diving team that took part in all three events of the invitational.

Sophomore Anastasia Pozdniakova won the 1-meter springboard Saturday, finishing with 311.45 points. Pozdniakova separated herself with just five points between the second-place diver, Michigan junior Elise Lee. Pozdniakova also finished third in the 3-meter springboard Friday.

Junior Ginni van Katwijk took a sixth-place finish with 248.20 points on the 3-meter springboard.

Friday, Pozdniakova ended the first day of competition with a third place finish in the 3-meter springboard. After preliminaries, Pozdniakova led all divers with 325.40 points and was the only diver to finish with more than 300 points.

Van Katwijk finished fifth with 277.50 points and Gitelson took a ninth place finish with 225.50 points in the preliminaries.

Houston will not compete until Nov. 30, when the swimming team will compete in Oxford, Ohio at the Miami Invitational. The divers will be in Austin for the Texas Invitational at the same time.
