Life & Arts College acts sought by mtvU Cougar Life & Arts Services Emerging college bands are now being offered the chance for stardom courtesy of mtvU. The station recently launched Best Music on Campus (www.bestmusiconcampus.com), a Web site offering unsigned college acts weekly, monthly and yearly chances to launch their careers. There are many monthly opportunities available to college artists registered at BMOC, such as EP, video, performance and promotion deals with Epitaph Records and video and promotion deals with Definitive Jux Records. Also, mtvU will offer an Artist of the Year contest in which a promotional campaign, video and record deal are available to the best college act in the country. The winner will be unveiled and debut with a live performance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. About every month, BMOC will host competitions where college students vote and help their favorite acts win deals with top labels. The first monthly opportunity will be with Def Jux to find the Best DJ, emcee, producer or band among college acts. College students interested in competing must register online by Dec. 14. College students nationwide are encouraged to submit
their original music as soon as possible to the Web site to become eligible
for these opportunities. Submission criteria and deadlines for all competitions
are available on the site.
