Sports Koehl makes the grade Linebacker voted to C-USA All-Academic team Cougar Sports Services A group of 11 student-athletes and Conference USA sports information directors unanimously voted senior linebacker Wade Koehl to the C-USA All-Academic team on Monday. The UH football team has proved it has what it takes to lead the C-USA West Division. Koehl has helped the Cougars earn a 9-3 record and the right to battle for the conference championship Friday at Robertson Stadium. Koehl, who majors in accounting and has a 3.52 grade-point average, is no stranger to academic and football accolades. He was recently named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VI First Team and the Butkus Award Watch List. He has been a finalist for the Draddy Award and the Wuerffel Trophy. In 2003, Koehl was named to the C-USA All-Freshman team and was put on the All-Conference USA Third Team in 2005. Koehl has earned him a spot in the C-USA commissioner's Honor Roll three times. This season, Koehl has been responsible for 54 tackles, 36 of which were solo. Koehl shares the academic accolade with Rusty Clayton and Brandon Patterson of Memphis, Kevin Roach of East Carolina, Travis Cooley of Southern Miss, Michael Purcell of Tulane, Reagan Schneider of Texas-El Paso, Thomas Morstead of SMU and Sha'reff Rashad of UCF.
