Column presents contradictory ideas

To the editor:

David Salinas' column "TIME not honoring worthy people" (Monday, Opinion) surprised me in its contradictory judgment. Salinas selects a combination candidate of Iraq and Sudan with his vote for Person of the Year.

He somehow misses his own free flowing advice when he says, "TIME's recognition should not be revered as an award." Sudan and Iraq have been through terrible suffering, but I'm not sure if they constitute a person. Salinas criticizes Emilio Estevez for his selection and then subsequently chooses "an equally pandering and vague suggestion by nominating ..." two suffering countries.

Judge not lest ye make a dork of yourself.
