News UH student earns copy editing scholarship Dulin will receive $2,500 award, chance to speak at newspaper conference COUGAR NEWS STAFF> A former Daily Cougar editor in chief was selected by the American Copy Editors Society to receive its highest honor for a student. Matt Dulin, who served as editor in chief from January 2004 to December 2005, is ACES’ Aubespin scholar, named for Merv Aubespin, a newspaper editor and early proponent of the group. The award includes a $2,500 scholarship and an invitation to speak at the ACES conference in April in Miami ACES awards several scholarships to students and graduates who could potentially become professional copy editors. "It’s a fantastic honor," Dulin said. "It’s a sign that I’ve had some good teachers, both at The Daily Cougar and the School of Communication." Send comments to dcnews@mail.uh.edu |
