Campus Crime Report

The following is a partial report of campus crime between Jan. 10 and Monday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event's location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600.

Reckless Damage: 9:31 a.m. Jan. 10, A.D. Bruce Religion Center -- Someone set a fire inside a microwave oven. There was no other fire damage to the room, but damaged occurred from criminal mischief. Occurred between 4:00 a.m. Dec. 22 and 9:31 a.m. Jan. 10. 

Theft: 3:35 p.m. Jan. 10, Engineering Complex -- Someone stole two unsecured and unattended microwave ovens from a study lab located in a UH science building. There are no suspects or witnesses. Occurred between 6 p.m. Jan. 5 and 11 a.m. Jan. 7. 

Criminal Mischief: 8:33 p.m. Jan. 10, Lot 15D -- A UH staff member's unattended and secured vehicle was damaged while parked in a UH parking lot. There are no suspects or witnesses. Occurred between 1 and 8:30 p.m. Jan. 10.

Harassment: 10:30 p.m. Jan. 10, Bayou Oaks Apartments -- A student and visitor were involved in a verbal altercation. The visitor was instructed to leave the student alone and to cease contact. The visitor was issued a criminal trespass warning. Occurred at 10 p.m. Jan. 10.

Graffiti: 2:08 a.m. Jan. 11, Lot 16B -- While on patrol, an officer observed graffiti on the west stop sign located in UH Lot 16B. There are no witnesses or suspects. Occurred at 1:41 a.m. Jan. 11.

Criminal Mischief: 5:18 p.m. Jan. 11, Parking Garage 1 -- A staff member reported that someone slashed all four tires of her parked and unattended vehicle. An investigation is ongoing. Occurred between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Jan. 11. 

Criminal Mischief: 12:16 a.m. Friday, Lot 15B -- Someone used a mechanical device to saw a stop sign post in half in parking Lot 15B. There are no suspects. Occurred at unknown time Friday.

Theft of Service: 1:57 p.m. Friday, Parking Garage 1 -- A UH staff member reported that someone exited the garage and failed to pay the required fee. Occurred at 1:57 p.m. Friday.

Burglary of a Building or Habitation: 4:49 p.m. Saturday, Bates Residence Hall -- A student reported that someone entered her secured dorm room without consent and took her portable DVD player during the holiday break. An investigation is ongoing. Occurred between 3:45 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Monday.

Criminal Mischief: 4:38 a.m. Sunday, Cullen Oaks Apartments -- Someone sprayed a fire extinguisher in the third floor hallway of Cullen Oaks Apartments in building No. 4. There are no suspects. Occurred between 4:30 and 4:37 a.m. Sunday.

Theft: 5:27 a.m. Monday, Cougar Place -- The Residential Adviser at Cougar Place reported that someone stole her unattended and unsecured personal keys while on duty. There are no witnesses or suspects. Occurred at midnight Monday.

Burglary of a Motor Vehicle: 2:47 p.m. Monday, Cullen Oaks Apartments -- A student reported that someone burglarized his secured vehicle and stole stereo equipment and clothing items. There are no suspects. The incident occurred between 3 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Sunday.
