News CRWC offers perks for going distance Program gives University faculty and staff the chance to earn rewards for making good use of their feet COUGAR NEWS STAFF University employees seeking fitness motivation will soon have the Cougar Distance Challenge to help whip them into shape. The program, open to all faculty and staff, is a six-week daily walking program that offers incentives for distance milestones. Starting Monday, participants are encouraged to walk five miles throughout their day-to-day activities. A pedometer -- a step-counting device -- will be provided to those involved. Sign-up is available at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. Walkers who record 300 miles are eligible for a massage giveaway, and those reaching 400 miles are eligible for an unspecified gift certificate. Fitness tips will be e-mailed to participants every Friday. The contest ends March 18 and the registration deadline
is Feb. 8. Cost for CRWC members is $7 and $10 for non-members. For more
information, call (713) 743-9503.
