Life & Arts MIA acts returns to the scene fiercely Music Notes Eli Jabbe Modest Mouse, the band that had a hit song in 2004 with "Float On," is going to release a new album March 20 titled We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank. Their latest album will feature 14 songs, and will have a few differences this time around. There will be a guest appearance on three songs by James Mercer from The Shins. In addition, the band has added former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, so unfortunately, this album won't feature the classic melodies heard on "Float On" and other songs from their previous album. In hip-hop, Redman is one of the most talented musicians currently out, with a career spanning nearly two decades. Unfortunately, he has all but disappeared in the last several years. Though he had a small hit with the comedy How High, and a hit song ("Let's Get Dirty"), the Funk Doctor has mostly been hard to find in the last few years. Red's album Red Gone Wild release date has been delayed countless times by his label Def Jam, and fans have been restless to hear new material. Fortunately, Redman has been active lately. Freestyling over the instrumental for Jay-Z's latest single "Lost One," Red shows that he is still sharp with a three-minute flow where he touches on many topics. On the intro, Red congratulates Jay on his new album Kingdom Come before, in vintage Redman fashion, stating that it's only right that he'd steal one of his beats and rap over it. Red also raps over the instrumental for Justin Timberlake's hit "My Love." Red Gone Wild is scheduled for a release sometime in March, but with the past delays it has received, there's no telling if it will actually come out this year. In other news, Linkin Park headman Mike Shinoda recently
announced that the group's next album is going to be produced by veteran
musician Rick Rubin. Rubin is very versatile--he's produced for everyone
from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Jay-Z on his memorable hit "99 Problems".
