Sports Cougar baseball plagued by injury by RONNIE TURNER
The 2007 season won't arrive without some headaches for the UH baseball team. UH sources revealed Friday that junior right-hander Ricky Hargrove and sophomore catcher/pitcher Luis Flores are currently dealing with injuries that will affect their status for the beginning of the season. Hargrove has soreness in his throwing shoulder and will be out for a minimum of three weeks. Flores has a strained muscle in his right forearm and won't be pitching at the start of the season. But he will be the starting catcher in the Cougar's season opener. The early injuries of Hargrove and Flores could have a significant impact. Both are expected to be the frontline starters of the pitching staff. Last season, Hargrove went 8-6 with a 3.31 ERA. Flores
finished 6-3 with a 3.00 ERA, and batted .288 with eight home runs and
30 runs batted in.
