Life & Arts Gershwin biographer to promote new book by SHONCHELLE GRANGER
Moores School of Music professor Howard Pollack will sign copies of his latest book, George Gershwin: His Life and Work, on Saturday. The comprehensive biography on George Gershwin (1898-1937), one of America's most esteemed composers, describes his childhood, education, his early career as a pianist and other accomplishments. Pollack focuses on many of the misconceptions and myths surrounding Gershwin while establishing the value of his musical legacy. The University of California published Pollack's book, which is in its second printing. The signing and a small reception will follow an open discussion lead by host Chris Johnson. Admission is free.
