funded
by DEBBIE ARANDA
The Frontier Fiesta Association announced it will offer two scholarships -- the Academic Achievement Scholarship and the Community Involvement Scholarship -- to all eligible University students. "We give out as many as 10 $1,000 scholarships, six to UH students and four scholarships to incoming freshman," Araceli Lopez, director of productions for Frontier Fiesta, said. Full-time students are eligible for the awards. "Profit we make from (Frontier Fiesta) always goes back to the community through scholarships," Lopez said. To apply for the Academic Achievement Scholarship, students should include a completed application, an official UH transcript with overall GPA, a list of interests and activities, and one letter of recommendation from an individual familiar with the student's academic performance. The Community Involvement Scholarship application must inlnclude a completed application form, a 500-word essay, a list of interests and activities, and two letters of recommendation. Deadline for the scholarships is 8 p.m. Feb. 20. Applications are available in Room 51 of the University Center Underground or online at www.uh.edu/fiesta. This year's Fiesta is scheduled to run March 29 through 31. Send comments to dcnews@mail.uh.edu |
