Campus Crime Report

The following is a partial report of campus crime between Feb. 2 and Thursday. All information is selected from the files of the UH Police Department. The information in italics indicates when the event was reported to UHPD and the event's location. Information or questions regarding the cases below should be directed to UHPD at (713) 743-0600. 

Traffic offense: 5:21 p.m. Feb. 2, Lot 20A — A UH student's unattended and secured vehicle was struck by a visiting school bus while parked in a UH parking lot. Two unidentified witnesses left a note but left no contact information. The operator of the striking vehicle failed to leave information as instructed by law. The offense occurred Feb. 2 between 1 and 2:30 p.m. 

Burglary of a motor vehicle/criminal mischief: 8:45 p.m. Feb. 2, Cullen Oaks Apartments — A student reported that someone caused damage and entered his unattended and unsecured vehicle, stealing several items. An investigation is ongoing. Occurred Feb. 2 between 1:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. 

Theft: 10 p.m. Feb. 2, University Center Underground — A UH student reported the theft of an unattended and unsecured backpack, containing various items from the UC Underground game room. There are no witnesses or suspects. Occurred Feb. 2 between 7 and 10:30 p.m. 

Theft: 11:31 a.m. Feb. 5, M.D. Anderson Library — A staff member reported several chairs were stolen from a secured storage area in M.D. Anderson Library. There are no suspects or witnesses. Occurred between Feb. 2 at 4 p.m. and Feb. 5 at 10 a.m.

Criminal mischief: 12:39 p.m. Feb. 5, Campus Recreation and Wellness Center — A UH staff member reported that someone, driving an unknown vehicle, damaged the grass field located near the Wellness Center. Occurred between 12:30 p.m. Feb. 3 and 1 p.m. Feb. 4. 

Traffic offense: 3:07 p.m. Wednesday, Lot 1A — A UH student reported that someone struck and damaged his unattended and unsecured vehicle while it was parked in a UH parking lot. The driver of the striking vehicle failed to leave information required by law. There are no suspects or witnesses. Occurred on Wednesday between 11:21 and 11:24 a.m. 

Traffic offense: 3:29 p.m. Wednesday, Lot 15D — A UH student reported that someone struck and damaged her unattended and unsecured vehicle while parked in a UH parking lot. The driver of the striking vehicle did not leave information as required by law. There are no suspects or witnesses. Occurred Wednesday between 7:55 and 7:56 a.m. 

Forgery: 2:51 p.m. Wednesday, Moores School of Music — A staff member reported that a known student possibly passed a counterfeit $50 bill to pay tuition fees. An investigation is ongoing. Occurred Tuesday. 

Harassment: 12:27 p.m. Thursday, UH Police Department — A UH student reported receiving numerous telephone calls on her cell phone which disrupt her in class and at home. There are no suspects. Occurred various hours of the day from Feb. 3 through Thursday. 

Criminal mischief: 3:06 p.m. Thursday, The University Hilton — A UH staff member witnessed a dark green SUV drive through the exit gate at the University Hilton, causing the arm of the gate to break. An investigation is ongoing. Occurred Thursday between 2:30 and 2:31 p.m. 

Criminal trespass: 3:58 p.m. Thursday, Roy G. Cullen Building —A staff member reported that a homeless person was possibly staying in a UH building. An investigation is ongoing. Occurred 8:15 p.m. Feb. 5.
