Sports Junior sets the provisional mark at All-Corners Meet COUGAR SPORTS SERVICES The UH RunSport All-Comers Meet served as the final home competition for the track and field team to display their talent in the 2007 indoor season. Junior Ivan Diggs scored an NCAA provisional mark in the high jump, outdoing his previous season best of 2.16 meters. Diggs defeated the high jump competition clearing 2.18m while qualifying for the NCAA Championships. In the shot put competition, UH seniors James Lee and Lucas Mireles took second and third place. Lee threw 16.50m, while Mireles finished with a 16.40m throw. Sophomore Jeremy Kelley's triple jump leap of 13.44m captured a third place victory. After setting a school record (18.29m) Feb. 4 in the weight throw, junior Amanda Villanueva finished second by registering a 17.12m toss. For the women's distance events, junior Oumama Hallal dominated the in the 5,000-meter run. In the 800-meter run, Jennifer Harper won first, finishing with a time of 2 minutes, 20.82 seconds. On the men's side, senior Paul Goodwin finished fifth in the mile (4:32.02) and freshman Nathan Trimble finished the 3,000-meter race in sixth (9:16.10) place. Taking the top spot for the Cougars in the women's pole vault was junior Ashley Ligon who cleared 3.50m (11-05.75) and finished sixth in the event. In the high jump, freshman Brittani Williams walked away with fifth place by clearing 1.48m (4-10.25). Freshman Quin'shundolyn McPherson leaped 5.39m (17-08.25) in the long jump, placing fourth, and in the triple jump senior Kelli Williams took fourth by tallying 11.56m (37-11.25).
