ROTC to show love for troops with jog

Money raised during Wednesday's event, which is open to public,
will benefit local veterans facilities

COUGAR NEWS STAFF

UH Army and Air Force ROTC programs are joining ranks in support of veterans from 6 to 7 a.m. Wednesday for the Valentine's Day Jog with the Troops to Support the Troops.

While participation in the three-mile jog is free and open to the public, any donations received will go to DeGeorge at Union Station Veterans Home and the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

"We'd like to extend an invitation to the public, as well as active-duty military, veterans, reservists, National Guard and retired military, to get up early and run with us to show gratitude for those who have fought for the freedoms that we have long enjoyed," Col. Philip Bossert, commander of the UH Air Force ROTC, said in a release.

Participants will start the formation jog from the Garrison Gymnasium on Holman Street and after the jog will sign a Valentine's Day card to be sent to homeless veterans staying at DeGeorge at Union Station and the DeBakey VA Hospital.
