Put in your 2 cents at SFAC It's the time of year again. Papers rustle as organizations gather the information they need to stand before the Student Fees Advisory Committee and ask for the funds to keep their organizations running. Across campus, student leaders and advisers can be heard preparing to make their pitches to the committee and the public. SFAC presentations begin today, and what better way to support the University than attending these presentations. You can learn about what each organization does, its goals and what it plans to do with your money. Maybe you'll even hear about a new organization you're interested in joining. Take part in making UH a better place. Take a seat and find out where your money's going. Check to see when the organizations you belong to are meeting and the amount of funds they're requesting. Let your voice be heard. During organizations' presentations, the public is permitted to ask questions. Raise your hand. If there's something that you want to know, ask it. Don't hesitate to question what an organization requests. The committee needs your input to make a decision that benefits those who pay student fees. You deserve the right to know where your hard-earned dollars are going. If you're unhappy about where your funds are going, let your opinion be known. Without students' voices, the University can't evolve. Stand up and tell the committee and these organizations what you think. Write a letter to The Daily Cougar voicing your opinion. You can't change things that you dislike or disagree with if you don't say anything. Take these presentations as an opportunity to get involved. The Daily Cougar is here as a forum for those in the UH community to voice their concerns. Use it to your advantage.
