Cougars to host C-USA championship

COUGAR SPORTS SERVICES

The UH track and field team will look to leave the competition in the dust at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships beginning at 9 a.m. today and concluding Saturday at Yeoman Field House.

This marks the fifth consecutive year UH will play host to the C-USA Championships. During that stretch, the Cougars reeled off a combined six team championships while finishing runner-up once.

Houston will feature four competitors who already have their sights set on the 2007 NCAA Championships, scheduled for Mar. 9 and 10 in Fayetteville, Ark.

Senior Ebonie Floyd qualified for the NCAA meet with a 7.27 finish in the 60-meter preliminaries and a 23.11 finish in the 200-meter preliminaries on Feb. 9 at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville. Juniors Seun Adigun (60 meters) and Ivan Diggs (high jump) and senior Carey LaCour (200 meters) provisionally qualified as well.
